SEG CERTIFICATION

The French' Groupe de l’anguille durable (« Groupe de l’Anguille Durable ») a été créé suite à la mise en place du Eel Regulation it’s composed of scientists, conservation groups and economic actors of the eel industry.

Its aims is to act in favour of the restoration of theEuropean eel stock while developing communication and awareness campaigns with the general public and Community institutions.

They created the Certification Standard that aims to promote the contribution and participation of eel fishery in the restoration of eel stocks.

SEG Certification can be allocated to the whole actors of the fishery sector ( fishermen, fish traders, farmers, restaurants) to be able to certify the entire supply chain until the consumer.

This label allows :

  • Demonstrate that licensees are comitted to hard sustainable requirements, to encourage responsible work and the development of sustainable market.
  • Discourage practices and markets that promote only the short term.
  • Enable consumers to purchase responsibly with confidence.

Au sein de l’OP Estuaires, une centaine d’adhérents a déjà la certification SEG.
