Organisation and missions

OP Estuaires is a limited liability company with variable capital, and cooperative maritime form.

A structure recognized as an producers organisation by European Union, participates in the implementation of Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), in particular in the common organisation of the market in the fisheries and aquaculture products sector (CMO).
Also, the Producers Organisation must submit to the competent national authority a production and marketing plan which specified all the measures envisaged to ensure the rational and sustainable development of the fishing sector, and the improvement of sales conditions.

The profesionnal fishermen of the Producers Organisation are represented by an administrative board (professional fishermen elected from the membership) composed of six full members and five substitutes from each fishing sector in the Region. The President of the Structure, responsible for the physical entity, nominated from the board members of directors for a term of six years. 

The employees assist the administrative board and the President for the following missions :

  • The management of quota :
    • Writing management plans
    • Monitoring of catches
    • Control of the adequacy of catch levels compared to the management plans
    • Analysis of regulation and extension to members
  • L’amélioration des conditions de mise sur le marché et la rentabilité des entreprises :
    • Adaptation de la production aux exigences de la demande
    • Valorisation of sustainable fishing practices
    • Contribution to the traceability of the members' production
    • Combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activities
  • Participation in projects and studies related to the improvement of fishing practices, and to the knowledge on fisheries or species fished.
  • Communication with members :
    • Transmission of commercial information
    • Animation of meetings
    • Individual technical assistance of the members in their projects: change of ship, installations of specific equipment improving the placing on the market
